Creating a Personal Development Plan and Goals
What is it that you want to attain in life? Maybe you want to grow a successful business so you can start living life on your terms.
Whatever success you wish to achieve, working on developing yourself into that person should be first on your list.
For example, when I started my first home business a few years ago, I was really good at online marketing and SEO. Even though I knew all the how-to’s and had excellent marketing skills, it simply wasn’t enough.
I could not figure out why success was out of reach with my business. Then it slowing started making sense.
I didn’t have any personal development goals and therefore was not focused on self-development.
Wikipedia said it best, “Personal development covers activities that improve awareness and identity, develop talents and potential, build human capital and facilitate employability, enhance quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations.”
There are so many traits wrapped up in personal development, making it the necessary foundation for any success.
Once I started making a personal development plan and put it into action, only then did I start to experience the success that I have today.
Here are your three goals:
Leadership Personal Development Goal
When I got started with my home business, I knew a lot about managing people but very little about being a leader.
Learning leadership goals should be your top personal development goal as it creates a foundation for you to move forward.
Are you the type of person that others want to follow? Can you create a vision for yourself that others can believe in too?
Having the skills to inspire and support others in achieving their own visions for their life will make you into an effective leader.
Sharing and Mentoring Goal
Personal development skills are a never ending learning journey. It’s not like you learn for a few months and say, “OK, I’ve got all the self-development I need, that’s it!”
No. You continue learning and implementing for life.
With that said, once you start accumulating all this knowledge and skills, it’s crucial to share with others by mentoring them on their journey.
Set a personal goal to help others to succeed in their own lives. Being successful involves a lot of give and take!
Attending Events Goal
Attending event is an important personal development goal as it can help you grow as a person and leader.
There are always great resources available such as conferences, webinars, social networking get together, and other training.
One of the key things I love about attending events in person is that I can practice my people skills in addition to having a wonderful learning experience.
Remember, it’s an investment of time and money towards your future!
Wrapping it Up
When I began working on my personal development goals, I started seeing results in my business.
Write down your goals and the action steps it will take to get there.
Once you have a self-development plan in place, be consistent and stick with it. You’ll will overcome many of the things that are holding you back from success!
